The attacker broke the deadlock towards the end of the first half when he got onto the end of a cut back from Abdulrahman Ghareeb. The Portugal icon did not make a clean connection with the ball, but he did just enough to divert it past Bono and in.

Al-Nassr reached the Saudi Super Cup after finishing second to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League as well as the King Cup last season. The Riyadh side beat Al-Taawoun 2-0 in the semi-finals thanks to goals from Ronaldo and Ayman Yahya, setting up a final with Al-Hilal.
